Professor Dr. Ali Allam

Professor Dr. Ali Allam is a distinguished academic in the field of modern and contemporary history in Morocco. He currently holds the position of Professor of Higher Education at the Faculty of Arts of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez. He earned his PhD in Contemporary History in 2002 from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities – Dhar El Mehraz in Fez, with a “very honorable” distinction, for a dissertation entitled “The Intellectual and Social Framework of the Salwa al-Anfas Elite.” He also obtained a postgraduate certificate in History in 1995 for his work on “Edition of the First Part of the Book Salwa al-Anfas,” and a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, specializing in History, in 1993 with a research project titled “The Awlad al-Tayeb-Saiss Group: A Historical Study.”
Dr. Allam has taught a variety of courses, including History and Civilization of the Islamic World, History of the First Alaouite Era, History of America, and History of the Ottoman Empire. He has also actively participated in supervising and examining undergraduate research in multiple faculties.
He has contributed significantly to academic literature, authoring and publishing important works such as Architectural Heritage in Morocco (2013), Encyclopedia of the National Movement, Resistance, and Liberation Army (2008), and Fez: History, Heritage, and Cultural Influence (2008). He has also published notable scholarly articles, including “The Contribution of Biographical and Virtue Books to the Historiography of the City of Fez” (2012), “The Noble Stances of Sultan Muhammad bin Yusuf in Difficult Times” (2008), and “The Phenomenon of Sufism in Pre-Protectorate Morocco” (2006).
Additionally, he has books pending publication, including Memory of Integration and methodological works aimed at high school students on analyzing historical texts. Thanks to this rich career in research, teaching, and writing, Dr. Ali Allam is regarded as a prominent scholarly figure who has significantly influenced the Moroccan academic landscape and contributed to the advancement of historical knowledge.
