Assistant Professor Dr. Elham Banaga

Dr. Elham Moatasem Al-Bashir Banaga is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Diplomatic Studies at the University of Khartoum. She holds a PhD in Political History Philosophy from the University of Khartoum, awarded in 2011. Dr. Elham has an outstanding academic career spanning over two decades, with two master’s degrees in History and Diplomatic Studies from the University of Khartoum, in addition to a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in History from the same university.
Dr. Elham has extensive experience in academic teaching and training. Since 2014, she has held the position of Assistant Professor at the Center for Diplomatic Studies and has coordinated the diploma and master’s programs at the center since 2015. She actively contributes to advancing scientific research and higher education through numerous specialized training courses, including ethics in university teaching, academic advising, educational technology use, and assessment and evaluation, as well as advanced training such as trainer of trainers (TOT) and multiple intelligences.
She has participated in several national and international conferences covering various fields such as history, Arabic language, Islamic civilization, and diplomacy. Her distinguished research papers address topics like the role of Sudanese women in oral heritage, Kushite diplomacy, Sufi thought in Sudan, and Sudan’s foreign relations. Dr. Elham is an active member of several academic committees and editorial boards, including the editorial board of the Historical Studies Journal in M’sila, Algeria, the founding board of the Institute of Building and Roads Research Bulletin at the University of Khartoum, the Arab Academics Union, and the Sudanese Council on Foreign Affairs.
Beyond her academic activities, Dr. Elham stands out as a community leader through her work with charitable organizations. She heads a charity organization dedicated to supporting schoolchildren in impoverished areas by providing clothing and covering their tuition and examination fees.
Dr. Elham combines scholarly creativity with social commitment, making her a prominent figure in the fields of history and diplomatic studies in Sudan and the Arab world. She continually strives to develop her academic and administrative skills while enhancing the role of higher education in building national and regional capacities.
