Professor Dr Mussaab Suleiman Al-jamal

Professor Dr. Mussaab Suleiman Al-Jamal is a distinguished academic and one of the influential figures in the legal and political fields, combining extensive scholarly expertise with practical, on-the-ground experience.

He was born in Kafr Nabouda, Hama Governorate, in 1968, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Law from Damascus University in 1992. He then pursued an outstanding academic path, obtaining several advanced degrees, most notably a PhD in Criminal Sciences (1997) with a dissertation titled “The Crime of Murder between Positive Law and Islamic Sharia”, and a second PhD in Constitutional Law and Political Systems (2017) on “The Concept of the Constitution and Political Systems – A Foundational Study.” In addition, he earned specialized diplomas in public and private law, alongside advanced studies in intellectual property and criminal psychology, which provided him with a multi-dimensional knowledge base.

Professionally, Dr. Al-Jammal has built a career spanning more than three decades. He served at Damascus University as an Assistant Professor and later as a Full Professor, and also taught at the Judicial Institute of the Syrian Ministry of Justice. His career includes judicial and military positions, most notably as a military judge and a commander in the military police during his compulsory service. Moreover, he founded and directed pioneering academic institutions such as the Open Virtual Academy of the East, which later developed into Suleiman International University, where he currently serves as General Supervisor. He also chairs the Board of Trustees of the International Justice College and presides over the Legal Commission of the Syrian Revolution.

Dr. Al-Jamal is widely recognized for his prolific academic contributions and supervision of research. He has published dozens of studies and articles in criminal law, constitutional law, and international arbitration, in addition to encyclopedic works on Orientalism, family law, and arbitration. He has supervised numerous Master’s and PhD theses across diverse fields, ranging from criminal law to political science and international relations. His impact extends beyond academia, as he has played leading roles in international conferences addressing strategic topics such as continuing education, digital transformation, regional security, and women’s empowerment.

In addition to his memberships in professional and academic bodies—such as the Union of Arab Writers and Journalists and the Union of Arab Academics—Dr. Al-Jamal enjoys a prominent presence in scientific and academic forums. He is known for combining deep legal scholarship with a strategic vision for the future of education and society. Thanks to his rich and dedicated career, he is regarded as one of the leading Arab academic figures who have contributed to building modern knowledge institutions and bridging scientific research with the needs of the Arab reality.
